Branding has led to young girls being more self conscious than ever. I plan to focus on anorexia in teens/tweens. My audience will be those teens/tweens and their parents. Anorexia is caused mostly by people being judged by others. If every parent would teach their children to worry about the truly important things in life, maybe there wouldn’t be so much judging going on in schools all over the world. I will describe the effects of anorexia, and how it can be prevented, along with how branding has contributed to anorexia.
Anorexia is a disease caused mostly by girls being self conscious. This self consciousness leads to an obsession with dieting and being “thin.” If helped early, someone can come out of it somewhat easily. If someone is anorexic for a long period of time, it because an addiction. Once anorexia is part of someone’s lifestyle, not eating is just like eating constantly to a binge eater. Media uses all skinny models, knowing that all girls do not have bodies like those models. This is where branding comes in. If a ridiculously skinny model is wearing a brand a teen likes, the teen automatically thinks that she should look the way the model does in those clothes.

This is a good topic to write on. i personally know young girls who deal with self issuse. what made you choose this topic? Did you deal with any of these issuse when you were a teen? I love where you going with this, cant wait to read the final caopy. :)
ReplyDeleteSo do you intend to discuss the "pro-Anna(s)?" If so, it would be worthwhile to conduct research on it. It is entirely up to you. Let me know though because I have a blog written by a "pro-Anna." It is quite scary!
ReplyDeleteFocus your audience though. What is the concern in writing to tweens/teens and parents? If you focus your energy on both, it will weaken your argument.
So it would be better if I chose to focus only on the teens/tweens?
ReplyDeleteI haven't really thought about discussing the Pro-Annas. I will research some and then decide.
ReplyDeleteGood proposal. sOunds like a very interesting topic. The pro annas might be a good thing to look into. It might also be fun to write about. Talk about how teens need to know that they are potential victims of marketing. They need to love themselves for who they are! Good job and good luck
